PertaLOOP Is Here! Exploring the World of Flow Assurance
A new chapter in production research begins with PertaLOOP! The FlowLoop Demo Unit is designed to simulate fluid flow and visualize key flow assurance phenomena, including flow regimes, friction, corrosion, and scale formation. This facility provides a hands-on platform to support technology innovation, research, and a deeper understanding of flow assurance challenges in the oil and gas industry.

How do oil, water, and gas behave as they flow through pipelines? Understanding this behavior is essential, as challenges such as scale deposition, flow friction, and corrosion can affect pipeline integrity and production performance.
To explore these challenges, the Production Research Group, Technology Innovation & Implementation (TIU&LC), introduces ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ (๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ), a lab-scale flow test facility developed in collaboration with Yayasan LAPI ITB.
๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ simulates fluid circulation through a dedicated test section with adjustable flow rates and temperatures. The oil-water mixture is continuously recirculated through a mixing tank, allowing experiments to be conducted under controlled and repeatable conditions. Equipped with SCADA-based monitoring, sampling points along the flow path, and high-speed cameras observing flow behavior through transparent piping, ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ enables a closer look at flow phenomena and supports research into flow assurance challenges.
The welcoming and introduction of ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ took place with the participation of the Production Research, Technology Innovation & Implementation (TIU&LC), and representatives involved in its development.
